Critical Advisory: Mandatory update required to address License Management Defect

What is the issue?

Matillion ETL has a critical License Management defect (between versions v1.53 and v1.77), requiring all instances to be upgraded to v1.78 or above by March 31st, 2026. Failure to upgrade your instances will result in the software failing to run after that date.

What do you need to do?

For each Matillion ETL instance, the high-level steps for remediation are:

  1. Check the current Matillion ETL version.
    1. Log in to your Matillion ETL instance.
    2. Open a project.
    3. Click Admin in the upper-right.
    4. Click Matillion ETL Updates.
    5. The Matillion ETL Updates dialog will open, displaying the current version of your instance.
  2. Identify whether this version is affected or not.
  3. Take a back-up, so that if the upgrade fails, you can fall back and restart the process.
  4. If the version is lower than v1.69, perform a full migration to upgrade.
  5. If the version is greater than v1.69, perform the remediation via the in-client update option through the Admin menu in Matillion ETL to upgrade to version v1.78 or above. Note that a full migration can still be performed if required.
  6. Perform a version check to confirm the upgrade was successful.

What if you do nothing?

All affected Matillion ETL instances will cease to function completely after March 31st, 2026. This includes all schedules and interactive usage of Matillion ETL.

After March 31st, 2026, the software will be inaccessible from the UI and the only option for fixing the problem will be performing a version update manually using the command line.
